1956 R50 VIN# 555111 No longer available
I recently purchased this bike after it had been sitting for many years. This is a triple matching number bike with the correct carburetor numbers for that year. The head stock plate appears to be a re stamp, but the frame and engine numbers are correct. The paint was in very good condition for its age and may or may not be original, previous owner used the bike very little. The bike came with high handle bars and one handlebar mirror. The compression was low in both cylinders so I installed a new pair of re-built cylinders with first over pistons Schmidt pistons and newly rebuilt heads. The bike cleaned up well and after the new oil change and tune with new parts, started and ran well. I have included photos of the before and after so you can see where I started and ended up. Because it is licensed as a 1956 the Vin # actually shows it to be a 1955 late production bike. the bike has the single cross wheels, rounded shock tops and the correct air filter for that year. This is a very nice example of an early R50 and even comes with fork and side tank lock key and tool kit. I have installed a pair of aftermarket Enduro bags that do not come with the bike unless theĀ price is negotiated for them. there is also a rack mounted Pagusa passenger saddle that can be negotiated.
